OK.

Staff were generally pleasant. Rooms very big.

The check-in staff did not have a record of my payment in full for the rooms. I had to show them my email from booking.com without which they were insisting I pay again.

Beautiful old style hotel and helpful staff. Better maintenance would make it excellent!

Beautiful old style hotel with large, bright rooms and wooden floors. Well equipped gym and super helpful and skilled staff. Full 'Gran Hotel Budapest' experience as in Wes Anderson's movie.

Bathroom needs a good brush and scrub here and there. Face towels in addition to bath towel would be nice. Pillows were too hard for me. Food at the Skybar is so so, and the bar itself is rather dull but staff was super nice and entertaining. The big minus is unpleasant smell around the swimming pool and in the bathroom indicating problems with sewage.

Lovely staff at what was clearly once a great hotel that is now in need of renovation.

Staff were lovely. Good location. Big rooms.

It feels pretty run down and in need of some major renovation. Has the feel of a hotel about to close down. Air conidtioning kept breaking. No hot water for 2 days while 'under maintenance'. Was offered a £5 discount on a £480 bill.

Good location, but very outdated hotel.

Nice and quiet location. Good enough for one night stay, but would not want to stay for longer. Price was pretty okay. Good service in the reception.

Very outdated hotel. Lot's of renovation going on. During our stay the pool area was closed. Breakfast had pretty small selection. Very outdated rooms, especially the bathroom. Not worth for five stars. Restaurant had already early in the evening ran out (at least they said) some of the hotel "specialities", even though restaurant was completely empty. The general feeling in the hotel was weird. Not sure if something special was going on, but felt like it is ready to close down.

A very enjoyable stay in an impressive hotel with very friendly staff.

Impressive hotel. Lots of wood panelling and chandeliers. Beautiful room with polished hard wood floor. Great views of the city and ocean. Even better views from the contemporary styled Sky Bar. Good breakfast in the luxurious main restaurant. There was an old Haley-Davidson and a Honda Gold Wing near the lifts. In front there was a 1975 Mercedes and behind that a beautiful white 1945 Mercedes, just in front of the main restaurant. Great location. 10 minute walk to the sea front where there were many bars and restaurants. The nearest sandy beach, Melawai, was 1.5 miles away. 30 pence by angot (small van). Lamaru Beach in a pine forest is particularly attractive. It is owned by the hotel and is 15 miles away. The Samboja Sanctuary for Orangutans and sun bears is 25 miles away. A superb experience, not to be missed. Samarinda the capital of East Kalimantan is also worth a visit and driving for 40 miles through a tropical rain forest in heavy rain was an interesting experience. I had a great 28 day holiday at the Gran Seyniur, made all the better by the friendliness of the staff. The hotel has a pleasant outdoor swimming pool.

I would have preferred if the swimming pool had steps. I found getting in and out of the pool difficult.

Good hotel, vantage location

1. The hotel is just off Jend. Sudirman, about 15-20 minutes from the airport. 2. The Sky Bar on the 8th floor gives a very good view of the ocean, and is a nice place to spend some time with good music. 3. The rooms are spacious with comfortable beds.

1. The furnishings in the room, including carpets, need to be upgraded. The rooms make a dent in the grandeur of the hotel. 2. A few more chairs in the lobby area will help guests better.

What was the highlight of Gran Senyiur Hotel

Nice and spacious room.

The staff was really unhelpful. It is the first we experienced something like that. And we travel a lot. They even weren't able to order taxi on time, which was supposed to take us to the airport. A lot of facilities within hotel were closed. The hotel pretends to be luxury, but with this kind of attitude of the staff and pretty weak english knowledge of most the staff, it is simply ridiculous. The prices in hotel restaurants are sky high especially taking into account the service quality. If you want to eat something, you would better go outside, e.g. Ocean's (very good seafood).
